- Neoregelia is an epiphytic evergreen perennial.
- Native to tropical rain forests in southeastern Brazil.
- Has narrow, leathery, shiny, spine-tipped and lance-shaped leaves.
- The leaves appear in funnel-shaped rosettes.
- Outer leaves are green except for the red blushing near the base of the inner leaves.
- Inflorescences are violet to lavender in colour.
- Flowers appear in the socket centre of the leaf rosette.
