Description
- Melaleuca is a large tree that grows up to 20 metres tall.
- Has a thick and papery bark.
- The colour of the bark is usually white but also pink and cream in colour.
- This plant has weeping branches.
- The leaves are wide, flat, narrow, egg-shaped or lance-shaped.
- Flowers are usually cream, white or greenish-white in colour.
- The aromatic leaves yield Tea Tree Oil which has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
- Requires a lot of sunlight and keep it on the dry side over winter.
- Heavy watering requires during the growing season.
- Needs pruning when needed.
